STAFF EVALUATION

The purpose of the Performance Evaluation Form is to facilitate more effective feedback and develop conversations specifically focused on four key areas: character, competence, chemistry, and commitment. Within each area, core attributes have been identified to provide clarity and focus. A core attribute is defined as a behavior or set of behaviors that describe excellent performance. The evaluation will continue to be focused on a "dialogue" between a staff member and a supervisor.

OUR RATINGS

Here is what the ratings mean: UNSATISFACTORY: Performance clearly fails to meet requirements and serious performance deficiencies exist. BELOW EXPECTATIONS: Performance below requirements and expectations. Performance improvement, role change or other action should be taken (or is being taken). SATISFACTORY: Meets performance requirements and expectations. Is a valued and contributing member. Effectively achieves both quality and quantity of work with guidance or direction normally demanded for this job. EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS: Highly effective and exceeds most performance requirements and expectations. Consistently achieves high quality results on even the more difficult or complex areas of the job. OUTSTANDING: Consistently and significantly far exceeds performance requirements and expectations. Results are unique, exceptional, and sustained for more than one year.

CHARACTER

This refers to the vitality of a staff member's walk with Jesus and commitment to spiritual disciplines. It also refers to specific character attributes such as honesty, teachability, humility, and reliability.
DESCRIPTION: Has high personal energy and energizes others by displaying a positive, constructive attitude. Expresses positive expectations for others and speaks of them in positive terms. Illustrates optimism to help others see positive aspects in difficult situations. Is enthusiastic when completing all tasks and can be counted on by other team members.
DESCRIPTION: Seen as direct and truthful. Keeps confidences. Admits mistakes and doesn't misrepresent himself or herself for personal gain. Lives according to core values and beliefs of Jesus and New Life. Takes responsibility for decisions and behaviors. Honest and a truth-teller. Handles conflict constructively.
DESCRIPTION: Committed to personal spiritual development Is fully engaged as a participating member Is a role model for the congregation in leading a spiritually surrendered life.

COMPETENCE

This refers to a staff member's professional aptitude and ability to contribute in a meaningful way helping New Life to accomplish its goals. In addition, it refers to a staff member's focus on improving himself or herself.
DESCRIPTION: Is willing and able to adjust to multiple demands. Shows resilience in the face of constraints, frustrations, or adversity. Demonstrates flexibility and quickly adapts to new Information Is flexible in times of uncertainty or shifting priorities. Remains positive and optimistic in time of change.
DESCRIPTION: Maintains a conscious balance between work and personal life so one doesn't dominate the other. Concentrates his or her efforts on the most important priorities. Uses his or her time effectively and efficiently. Is able to attend to a broad range of activities. Structures time and schedule in such a way to maximize work and personal productivity.
DESCRIPTION: Demonstrates purposeful, decisive, get It done behavIour. Has the courage to take risks. Sets and achieves challenging goals aligned to the church's and ministry's plans Enjoys working hard and has a strong work ethic.

CHEMISTRY

This refers to a staff member's relational fit within New Life and ability to work within a team environment including staff and volunteers.
DESCRIPTION: Contributes to New Life’s goals as an individual contributor and as a team member. Fosters collaboration among team members and creates strong morale and spirit in his or her team. Fosters open dialogue and conversation. Steps up to conflicts and responds in accordance with Matthew 18 Does not allow things to go underground Conflict resolution and meaningful communication take place in an environment of openness, truth telling, and sensitivity
DESCRIPTION: Builds network of volunteer teams effectively to complete tasks and accomplish goals. Effectively recruits, equips, and honors volunteers. Works effectively with people up, down and lateral within the organization. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with people inside and outside of New Life gaining their trust and respect.
DESCRIPTION: Ability to provide accurate and clear information through an appropriate and professional venue. Is timely and prompt in all communication practices. Speaks clearly and expresses ones self well in groups or one-on-one conversations Demonstrates attention to and conveys understanding of comments and questions of others Conveys written information clearly and effectively through formal and informal documents.
